  QUESTION:

Hi Marty. I'm Manny. Problem is that I'm still in university for Jazz guitar and I got in with a scholarship. I'm ranked as one of the top guitarist in the university as well as the province. My band just got a record deal and, I'm scared having to drop out of university because I'll disappoint many people specially my family for no finishing university. What should I do? P.S. Thank you for your music. Ever sense I heard "Tornado Of Souls" I Decided to pick up a guitar and wanting to be as good of a player as you. You are my greatest inspiration.

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

Will your family be disappointed that you have a record deal? Is it your goal to be a musician? Why must you drop out because you have a record deal? If it is a real solid record deal with a reputable company, then even if you must `drop out` you absolutely must go for it. There are many great musicians who are not lucky enough to release their music. You may never get this chance again. And mainly, the actual process of creating, packaging, marketing and getting your music out to the public will give you a realistic hands-on education that you can not get in school. Congratulations and good luck!
