| Marty plays self-penned song to sold out Dome, more inside!
On 9/27 a sold out Tokyo Dome was treated to Marty`s live performance "La+Love and Peace" with Kimura Takuya of SMAP.
Marty wrote the song which appeared on SMAP`s latest album, "Gift of SMAP", which debuted at #1 in August.
Marty`s first interaction with SMAP was when he covered the SMAP hit, "Sekai Ni Hitotsu Dake No Hana" in an extreme metal version on his "Loudspeaker" album which created a buzz in Japan and eventually led to Marty`s role in the SMAP vs. SMAP television show in the reoccuring skit, "Black Pirates".
The comedy skits find Marty along with SMAP singer Kimura Takuya playing a Black Metal/Death Metal band that will do anything to make it and always wind up with an live performance at the end of the show. This led to Marty being asked to write a song for SMAP outside of the show.
Marty`s live appearance was a special surprise during SMAP`s 5 night run at the Tokyo Dome. To give those outside Japan an idea of SMAP`s influence in Japan, the 5 sold out Tokyo Dome shows are all "fan club only" shows.
"LOUDSPEAKER", "BAD D.N.A" and "FUTURE ADDICT" out NOW!

A message from Marty:
"Yossi and I became friends on my 2011 solo tour, we came up with the idea of putting together a concert tour with decidedly unique and exotic guitarists, each from a different part of the world with their own ethnic sound and approach to their music. I didn`t know just how cool Middle Eastern flavors could mix with amazing rock guitar playing until I heard Yossi Sassi, I was quite impressed. Stephan Forte will give you an idea what an absolute guitar wizard from France sounds like. The tour will happen in October and everyone is in for a once in a lifetime collection of artists from separate corners of the world, and a truly inspiring treat."

THREE MARTY FRIEDMAN ALBUMS TO RECEIVE OVERDUE NORTH AMERICAN RELEASE IN AUGUST
American thrash guitar hero now a top figure in Japanese music industry
(excerpt from US press release)
Three recent albums by pioneering guitarist Marty Friedman will receive North American releases by Prosthetic Records on August 14. Two of the titles – 2010's Bad D.N.A. and 2008's Future Addict – have until this year only been available in Japan, where Friedman now lives, while 2006's acclaimed Loudspeaker, originally released Stateside by Shrapnel Records, will be made available domestically once again.
In Japan, Friedman became an enigma of sorts: Armed with a fluency in the Japanese language, he left a platinum-selling American band to start from nearly zero to pursue his longtime dream of becoming a unique part of the Japanese domestic music world. That mission was accomplished, for between his solo releases and works with Japanese musicians, Friedman has performed at the largest venues in Asia, including three shows at Budokan, and played on and wrote several Japanese Top 10 hits, including a #1 single in 2011 and a #3 single in 2012.
At the same time, Friedman also became a popular Japanese television personality who not only hosted several programs, but was even featured in national ad campaigns for Fanta and Sumitomo Bank. He estimates he has made well over 400 network TV appearances in Japan, including three televised sold-out solo performances with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.

This is the first "backing track" Marty has released outside of Japan.
The European release will be through Verycords, a French label with distribution by Warner Bros. The release dates are May 7th in France and the UK and May 11th in the rest of Europe.

After Marty`s live performance of the song,"Mugen No Ai" at the Saitama Super Arena on Christmas, Momoiro Clover`s brand new single became one of the most anticipated releases of 2012.
Marty`s studio collaboration with Momoiro Clover on "Mugen No Ai" was released on 3/7 and made its debut on the singles chart in Japan at #5 with no signs of slowing down.
The video for the song can be seen here:
Marty is currently featured in Gentleman`s Quarterly Japan (GQ Magazine April issue) with a full page article and new color photo.
In Live news, Marty and his solo band will be playing live in Okinawa at the MUSIX festival on 3/18. This is their first full concert since their 2011 European tour.
Marty will appear on Smap X Smap (Fuji Television 10PM) with Kimura Takuya in a new skit about a new death metal band called "Black Pirates" The show is one of the longest running top rated shows in the history of Japanese TV. The story is tongue in cheek, but the music is all real so metal fans will enjoy!
2/19 Also on Fuji Television Marty will do an interview and live performance on Doumoto Kyoudai (Fuji Television 11:15PM) Marty made his first performance on the hit show in 1999 and has appeared on it several times since.
If you missed Marty`s appearance on TV Asahi`s Tamori Club, the episode is being rebroadcast several times this month, so if you have access to Japanese TV, be sure to check it out.
Marty made a surprise guest appearance at the Saitama Super Arena on stage lon 12/25 with Japanese phenomenon Momoiro Clover. They played two songs and a guitar solo corner with an excerpt from Marty`s "Valley of Eternity".
Marty recently recorded Momoiro Clover`s upcoming single, "Mugen no Ai", with producer Maeyamada Kenichi at the helm. Maeyamada is being hailed in Japan as the hottest new producer in recent times, racking up several hits with his twisted and instantly recognizable style.
Adds Marty about the collaboration, (translated from ENTAME magazine) "...this song is like the "Bohemian Rhapsody" of idol/girl group music. It has all the elements you would never expect in the genre-aside from the 5 girl singers, there is a 100 person choir, odd-time signatures, high speed tempo changes, unusual key modulations, and my guitar over the top of all of it. Actually, if you could imagine a 2 hour long Japan-themed Broadway show fast forwarded and squeezed into 5 and a half minutes, that might describe the song. No question this is my favorite collaboration since I moved to Japan. It`s also the kind of thing you either loathe with a passion, or you love it so much you can`t get enough of it."
The single will be released in early 2012, and even though it will be a Japan only release, for fans of Marty`s playing all around the world it will be well worth looking into. More release info to come.
