  QUESTION:

hello marty, lately things have been very hard for me,music wise, and personally,i live in kuwait..not much of a musical country..but im a guitar player and a big fan of you, atleast theres a little hope in that stuff here,im at my final year of high school and i wish i could go to a university or college of music,i love to study music and stuff, but when it comes to my family they say that i need to have another option beside it,if i fail at music i can have another certificate for another subject,i do agree that its right but the thing is that if i fail at music i wont give up,my hopes are being a guitarist in a band playing my music to the world and many people encourage me in doing so,but some say that its very tough,i might atleast just play a song on a comercial on tv.Marty my future is just 1 step ahead of me and if i make a wrong move its gonna be really hard,i want to know by you, somone whos had experience,a successful guitarist, what should i exactly do for my future?go to a music university? and set my full concentration to that?or study another subject and do music LATER?..the thing is i do study but im not that intrested in subjects other than music..its like,if i spend 4 years studying a subject its going to be hell for me,im not doing what i want to do,and to me it feels like wasting time because im not gonna give up on music no matter what, even if i fail,im gonna try again, and again...id like to know what you did in your highschool and university years marty.Il be looking forward to your answer, thanks

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

Get an education, while working on music at the same time. It doesn`t matter if you are a great musician if you are uneducated, as the music business will eat you alive. Develop yourself as an educated person and a musician. Good luck.
