Title : Q about playing live

  QUESTION:

Hello from Finland Marty! I have a question. In my high school I signed up for some music lessons. We mainly play with instruments, I play an acoustic guitar there back with a few other guys, while three experienced dudes play some electric guitars. I was just wondering, if I should go and perform with those 3 experienced guys in my schools graduation day. I think it would be very good for my guitar skills to develop. I have played for about 2,5 yrs now, and I consider myself better than other guys who have played for 3 years. I think musicality is a bit because of my genes. But I have a problem. I have a stage fright, and I get freaking nervous even when I have to perform in front of other people. What should I do? Do what I feel the best for me, or just go and play. I don't want to humiliate myself in front of 500 people.

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

{I was just wondering, if I should go and perform with those 3 experienced guys in my schools graduation day. I think it would be very good for my guitar skills to develop} OF COURSE DO IT! WHY DO YOU EVEN NEED TO THINK ABOUT IT? And before you consider yourself "better" than anyone else, think twice...those guys are out there doing something, and you are afraid to play in front of people...which is "better"?? The only way to get over your fears is to take every chance like this one, and prepare your ass off, and go do it. Good luck.
